A Land Full of Imagination & Dreams without Limit

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism designated Chuncheon as an official city of culture on the basis of the successful achievements of the Chuncheon Puppet Festival in 1995. Accordingly, the City of Chuncheon established a Puppet Theater on May 4th, 2001, whose purpose is to announce and develop Chuncheon as one of the most important venues for puppetry all over the world.

The Chuncheon Puppet Theater, the largest-scaled theater dedicated to puppet shows in Korea, mainly focuses on puppetry. It promotes an appreciation for puppetry in Korea through its high-class programs, and is also an active cultural provider for children. The Chuncheon Puppet Theater contributes to the national culture in playing a positive role representing a local performance base, as well as enhancing its cultural and creative images and abilities, at home and abroad.

We believe that the Chuncheon Puppet Theater will be a very significant center for all puppetry-related organizations and institutions worldwide, in terms of cross-communication and cooperation among puppeteers.
